LSI USA- Learn English in New York City |

Welcome to New York - "the Big Apple" - the city that never sleeps. As the major business and cultural center of the United States, New York is rightly proud of its leading role and long tradition in American history. From commerce to politics to ballet to sporting events, New York has it all. By joining one of our courses, you too can be part of the New York scene. Why not choose a destination that will live forever in your memory?
New York is a city of islands, and consists of five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx. Together these boroughs are home to more than 8 million people who come from all over the world. The magnetism of New York has attracted an additional 9 million people to the surrounding region, bringing the area population to more than 17 million.
The majority of New Yorkers, which is approximately 6.5 million, live in the "outer
boroughs". Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx are noted for their neighborhood upon neighborhood of brownstones and apartment buildings, while Staten Island, the least populated borough at .5 million, is renowned for its lush green tree-lined streets filled with single-family homes and town homes. Manhattan houses the remaining 1.5 million, primarily in high-rise apartment buildings and brownstones found nestled among the hundreds of skyscrapers that form its fantastic skyline.
Of course, Manhattan is a narrow island approximately 12 miles long and 3 miles wide and is a place where everyone wants to be. Commuters pour into Manhattan from the outer boroughs and surrounding areas every morning to work and to play, and head out again for home and a good night's sleep at day's end. The daytime population swells and traffic jams the streets throughout the city. The pace is fast and intense, with high demand for both space and services on this tiny piece of land.
It is in Manhattan that you find Central Park, Fifth Avenue and the Shopping
District, Broadway and the Theatre District, Greenwich Village/SoHo and the Artist's
District, and the Wall Street Stock Exchange, which is located in the Financial District. In addition, you can enjoy the many excellent museums, restaurants, and sights that make New York famous - the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations, and the Empire State Building.
LSI New York is based at the Manhattan campus of Metropolitan
College of New York (MCNY). As a strategic partner of
Metropolitan College of New York, LSI shares their urban campus located on the 12th floor of the One Hudson Square Building on the edge of SoHo close to the Financial District downtown. The classrooms are both spacious and comfortable, many offering splendid views of Manhattan and the surrounding environment. Facilities include a first-class library; a computer lab with Internet access; and a student lounge where students can take a break and relax over refreshments with their classmates.
In today's world, a working knowledge of English is a must. Combining a course of studies at LSI New York with the cultural experience of New York City can be an exciting and rewarding way to improve your English language skills.
